This preamp came out awhile ago, early 2009 I believe, Ive been wanting to try it out for the longest but I still have yet to come across one while working. Seems like a great idea though mixing tube and solid state circuitry. I can think of lots of fun to be had with this.

My favorite track off of the album, I was blessed enough to sit in on the mixing sessions for most of the songs on this album, including this one. The album was mixed by Dru Castro and Sam Thomas. Dru mixed this track though. I think it sounds amazing and she gives a great vocal performance.
FF: Fun Fact - There are reversals on every track on this album, also India is a monster in pro tools.

Extraordinary Mixtape: Niko Villamor w/the German mixtape master DJ Noize. I was doing back flips when this mixtape dropped. Some time ago I did a track with Joy Tolentino called "Feelings" for DJ Smiles that was supposed to go on his White Light Syndrome mixtape but never made the cut. I was supposed to mix the song but for whatever reason I could not retrieve the files from whoever had them. It happens I guess... anyways Its on THIS mixtape so im excited about that! its the first mixtape that ive been a part of, there will be more!
FF: Fun Fact - The track was was recorded in three different locations with three different mic's, pre's, and compressors. I will not list.

Epiphany ( I'm Leaving ) is definitely one of my favorite mixes right now. Everything on this track is pretty much amazing, the way she sang the song was great. Though I still like the mix of "Best of Me" from her first album "I Am" more. But they're two very different tracks so its appropriate they sound different.

I finally went out and bought the album. I'm not terribly impressed with the mixes, but i only listened to four songs so far. What did get me really excited though is that when i opened the CD case there were extras. When you purchase the album you are allowed to go and download mp3 stems of all the songs. stems are basically a few separated submixed tracks ( a lead vocal stem, background vocals stem, drums, keys, etc.) Anyways they let you download them so you can make remixes. I have something else in mind. I'm interested in listening to every vocal track separately to see how good they came out, considering the conditions the album was created under ( previous post ). This should be great!

Recently I purchased some Yamaha NS-10m studio monitors valued around five to seven hundred dollars. Included was a Crown CE2000 amplifier plus the traveling case valued at three hundred dollars . I got the whole package for under four hundred. Victory!

This is Great! I hear a hint of Sam Sparro. I happen to have the october 2008 issue of "Remix" magazine with MSTRKRFT on the cover. I skimmed through their article just now. Turns out the two were a band that just wanted to open a studio to do other peoples music, they ended up doing some remixes of some songs they recorded and got pretty popular. Soon they had a record deal. Their studio is named MSTRKRFT, it's located in Toronto.

I got to use the Trident S20 the other night, it's good... not the best pre Ive ever used. Sounds decent, and is built really good. I used it with an AKG C414 which I already like. It definitely got the job done.

I did a session at this place last night. ( sorry for the grainy camera phone pic )Never knew it existed. At first glance I thought it was amazing. A facility that holds about 30 rooms. 2 actual "studios" and 28 smaller project studios all next door to one another that you can rent out. I figured this would be a great idea for me and a friend, rent out a room and get some work done... But since they were all next door I found that every room was competing, trying to be louder than the next by drowning out their sound. You could never get a good recording there, and the vocal booths have standing waves. Sucks, cause this is a great idea, but it just didn't work, not for me at least.

Greg Kurstin made a huge step as far as engineering on this album. Dude did the entire record (recording and mixing) at his house in logic 8. Most people aren't going to agree with it, i love what the guy did.
